Emmett's tough but loving mother is a hard-working eldercare nurse who is not interested in babysitting any more of her surprise grandchildren. One of her patients is Ethel, Ronnie's grandmother.


YOLONDA ROSS
Yolonda Ross has appeared in recurring roles on the series HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER and Baz Luhrmann’s THE GET DOWN. She can be seen in Ana Lily Amirpour’s THE BAD BATCH, starring Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves and Jason Momoa; and OUT OF BLUE, starring Patricia Clarkson, Toby Jones, Teyonah Parris and Aaron Tveit. Ross appeared in WHITNEY, directed by Angela Bassett; LILA & EVE, starring Jennifer Lopez and Viola Davis; MEADOWLAND, starring Olivia Wilde, Elisabeth Moss and Luke Wilson; the John Sayles film GO FOR SISTERS earning an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Female; and the short film AFRONAUTS. An independent film darling, Ross made her debut in STRANGER INSIDE, winning an IFP Gotham Award for Best Breakthrough and an independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Debut Performance. Additional credits include ANTWONE FISHER, YELLING TO THE SKY, ALL ROADS LEAD and SPLIT. Best known on television for her role as Dana Lyndsey on TREME, Ross has also appeared in David Mamet’s PHIL SPECTOR, guest starred on LAW & ORDER, LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and THE UNIT, in a role also written for her by Mamet.
